Does this WaA stamp make any sense on a leather strap?

Article about: Leather strap for Dienstglas, looks real but you never know... This is usually a Mauser WaA, found all over 98k parts, so why would it be on a leather strap? Someone else used WaA63, or some

Leather strap for Dienstglas, looks real but you never know... This is usually a Mauser WaA, found all over 98k parts, so why would it be on a leather strap? Someone else used WaA63, or someone getting stamp happy with an aftermarket stamp, and how well would old leather take to getting stamped like this? The strap is old for sure, dried out some, smells old... Could the strap be off something else that was gun related? The length is right for a pair of Diensglas, the attaching pins are brass.

    Difficult one.....

I also have a binoculars strap with WaA on it, but it is different (I have pictures but can't find them in my "well organized digital image directory" NOT....)

But indeed, like you say, it could be a WaA stamp (used on weapons) to make the strap more interesting.....

In this case, I don't know, sorry
