Early 1937 Mauser bayonet frog - original?

Article about: Hi Guys - is this one a good one? I think it might be - but I always ask first... 1937 dated with brass rivets "W. Dopheide, Brackwede/Bielefeld, 1937" marking. Cheers - Fabe

    Actually, the rivets are probably not brass, but yellow tinted aluminium...

    Look good. These pre- war frogs seemed to have thinner tread used for the stitching, compared to what was used in the 1940's. The rivets are probably Nicotine stained.

    Hello,
    This one received a special treatment at some point. Stitchings look really weird, redone or heavily tinted. The frog has been blackened or greased and badly cleaned. It's a foot soldier frog that has been modified after the 1939 regulation about handle retaining leather straps, that's why the latter is added on the front of the frog, and not taken in sandwich between both parts that form the frog.
    Asking better photos of stitchings before the purchase would be a good idea IMO

    Thanks for all for the replies, I ended up not getting this frog - for I didn't like the darkened threads also.
