Hmmm difficult to tell if the paint job is original,

The mess kit itself is original ! but the one million dollar question of course is about the paint, and I am not a cammo specialist

Yeah, see that is what confused me as well! My friend said something about enameled mess kits being painted green in factory, but the paint doesn't adhere well to the enamel so that's why most are without.

I don't know for sure, though.
