All the pieces but the knife should be marked with the same marking(The knife should have "Rostfrei" on it.) A shame this set is a mismatch. It's unusual to see the Adler on the knife. If it had been a matched set, it would have been worth over $100!

The unmarked pieces are probably German issue, but post-war. This same style of utensils was used for many years and is pretty much unchanged even to this day.

    Hello,
Unmarked pieces from 4 ustensils sets were dug out in Normandie and Drôme area in France. Eagle marked sets were bought from barracks but private companies also produced unmarked pieces.
    Thanks

Interesting! I can't see, though, how a wartime set would show peeling and plating loss, though-did they plate the period set pieces?

Hi William, yes, they were plated. You can see it starting to peel on one of mine.

    Cheers, Ade.

Adrian, is not this item just overpainted? My set is just rostfrei (stainless steel) and after all these years in super condition.

Hi, no it is not paint, but some kind of plate.

    Cheers, Ade.
