    Hello,
    considering its features, i would say that it was produced between 1943 and 1945.
    Too bad that most factory paint is gone.

    This is WW2. The D on the bottom indicates it was waterproofed/tight. I wouldn't, touch it, repainting it won't add value, I know I like having things in as found condition.

    It's subjective you can do whatever you feel right. If you have more than one you can repaint some and leave the rest as you found them.
