    Adi,

Original green, bit rusty, early catch on lid and looks like the short can, probably dated 36 or 37 inside lid on the spare anti misting lens cover. Maybe ink stamp on base of can?

    Thanks Jock,

I'll have a look tomorrow, if it's still there...

What do you think would be a fair price for one in this condition? A gas mask is inside, but no filter.

    Adi,

For me about €15, they mostly ended up with the Luftschutz and Fire brigade, I have seen them on ebay for lots more (double), good luck!!!

    Hello,
This canister is not the military type that was used by the Reichswehr between 1930 and 1935. It lacks the fourth metal loop at the middle of the body (where i made a red cross). This type of canisters were produced for the Luftschutz only.
    Thanks

    Hi J,

Thanks for your opinion. About the color I was concern.

    Adi,

Nothing wrong with the colour, as JPhilip perhaps not cleary states they are of the military pattern but only during the Reichswehr period after which they were replaced but as with most military equipment it is then recycled and were then issued to second line units like Luftschutz, Feurwehr, Rot Kreutz etc.... You can not say it was only for luftschutz as most of this sort of equipment changed hands a lot between the second line paramilitary organisations of the day. The colour is fine.

    Hi Jack,

I post a link to a Dutch, site giving some details about the gasmaks type H that was in limited use in the Dutch army before and during WW2. They look remarkably like the Luftschutz type?!
