Gas mask identification

Article about: My friend gave me a German gas mask, hoping I'd be able to help him identify its once rightful owner. Rather ambitious, but let's give it a try.. It's a Type 30, GM30 to be precise, size 2.

    Default Gas mask identification

My friend gave me a German gas mask, hoping I'd be able to help him identify its once rightful owner. Rather ambitious, but let's give it a try.. It's a Type 30, GM30 to be precise, size 2. It is marked with the numbers "7613E" (hand painted in white) on the canister as well as on the mask. According to family legend, it was collected from a ditch somewhere in southern Jutland, havind been dumped by a Wehrmacht soldier returning from "die Sahne Front" after VE-day.
I can of course post detailed pics if necesarry.

Hi Langdal, welcome to the forum!

Sadly without a name, you will not be able to find out the soldiers ID.

    Cheers, Ade.

Done. I know it's a long shot, but like I said, it's for a friend of mine.

    Thanks.

Maybe it's not impossible, since there's that number, but how far are you willing to go?

Very nice It would be great if you are able to track down the original owner, its possible as I've managed to get in touch with the relatives of the owner of my First World War Corrected English Model Small Box Respirator

    Thanks

Willing to go? In what respect? If you mean "How much energy are you willing to devote to the search?" I suppose the answer is, that this is more or less it ;-)
