German CFL 38 Medic Canteen

Hello all!

It has been a good morning for me. A guy at my local flea market is known for selling knives of all eras, but occasionally gets a WWII piece that is not a knife. We have become friends and he now calls me whenever he gets a WWII item. Here is my newest acquisition from him, a 1938 German CFL Medic's canteen. Correct me if I am wrong about it being medic but from my research the medic canteens have the metal single hook while the normal canteens have a clip like attachment, as well as the medic canteens being slightly larger than a normal canteen. I picked this up for $35 bucks and I feel like I did well. It is my first german canteen and I am very happy to add it to the collection!

It is a nice but incomplete Sanitäter canteen. It's missing the leather carrying strap that goes in both metal buckles with prong...otherwise you did well to get it, the price was good...for you
