German hand held siren from Jersey, Channel Islands.

Article about: My 2 year old son already thinks its too "noisy"

Default German hand held siren from Jersey, Channel Islands.

I often get asked if its still possible to find German items beft behing here on the Island of Jersey all these years after the end of the German Occupation, or is all the kit now in the hands of collectors. Well in truth there must still be loads yet to be found, it just being the person that does find it thats the hard part. There are a few collectors here but not as many as there used to be. Any just to show items do appear from time to time here's a German hand held siren that came out of the woodwork on Friday. Its not the greatest example I have ever seen but it does still work although it needs a few screws replacing and there is some meatal and bakelite missing in various places. The old lady who it came from was a young girl at the end of the Occupation and she went as many did into the recently vacated German bunkers which cover the Island. Where as others she was with picked up helmets, or guns she took the siren and kept it all these years. Now downsizing she decided to let it go and I managed to get hold of it. These sirens are not so plentiful and always make people smile when you crank them up. I have given it a wipe over and as its not as good as the example I already have I will be moving it on. If your interested then look out for it in the Forums for sale page.

I would like to publicly thank Jersey 34 for the chance to purchase this siren. A thorough gentlemen to deal with.

The siren no resides in Sydney, a world away from its previous home, it will be a jewel in my collection

Pleased you like the siren, they are one of my favourite bits of kit. I will always try to help collectors where I can especially those who are a long way from the action so to speak.

Great item! I'd love to have it if, for nothing else, it would Royally annoy the rednecks with their noisy trucks living next door!

One day i really want to buy one of these and in the middle of the night start letting it wail while running down the street. I would really get a kick out of that.
