German land mine markers/motorcycle flags

Article about: Just a question, but is there a way to idetify these without a blacklight. If so, could you share some knowledge to me? Trying to uncover some info. about these.

    I suppose the reason they get called 'mine' flags is that gas was not used in WW2 so maybe they were used for marking minefields from time to time?
