German leather box, 'cqr.40'

Article about: Hi guys, This is for sale at a local shop. I was curious as to what it was, exactly. The only markings are a 'cqr.40' (a maker that I cannot find) and a waffenamt. Thanks, Mo

    Hi guys,

This is for sale at a local shop. I was curious as to what it was, exactly. The only markings are a 'cqr.40' (a maker that I cannot find) and a waffenamt.

    Thanks,

Hi Chris, thanks! They are asking $45 for it, but of course these prices are always negotiable.

It's a pretty cool box and I have never seen one before, so thank you.

Is the strap a roller buckle or spring loaded type? If it is spring loaded then the pouch is for the small switchboard. If it is the roller buckle type then the pouch is for the phone line regulator. The Vermittlungskaestchen or small switchboard was issued to small phone squads in pairs. The line regulator allowed you to connect different phone line types or was used to eliminate RF near high power lines and such. NH

I think it's a roller buckle, but I can't really remember. I'll have to get another photo.
