The "textbook" type is the closed back style but i have read/been told that these "open" ones could be pre-war or occupied countries production. You see them with stitched or riveted straps too. Ok for an impression as you dont see the open back.

Thanks Dan! Then if you don't see any red flag i will go for this one. "Textbook" closed back style are way to expensive for me in comparison with this one, and i can "complete" my mannequin with this shovel and carrier, so no doubt! Thanks!

Hello,
In my opinion, the carrier is not suitable for a WWII german soldier display...the shovel is...
Thanks

Damn! Thank guys! i was looking for a "cheaper" version of the shovel carrier with the close back style, clasic text book examples, but it's hard because i don't know what model could be occupied countries "war time" manufactured and which one don't.
Is there any reference book, web, or place where i can find info about them? Just to not come back in a few days with another shovel carriers and ask again the same question. (I have seen Tom site, but only have the "official" entrenching tool carrier with blose back style, i also have seen other threads here but it's confusing).
Thank you so much guys!

Hi,
If you want a cheap(er) solution, then go for an austrian or czech shovel..... these were used by german troops as well.......

I have just seen this photos in the book "German Combat Equipments 1939-45" and looks like the carrier that i have been offer. So could be a chance for the carrier to be original? is the book wrong, or they are not the same model?
Thanks!
