    Hi Gang, please could you help me on this water bottle? I picked it up at the car booty a few weeks ago, I have tried researching for origin and have read that nearly all German bottles have numbers near the neck? could you give me any info on it's origin, if it ww2 era? fake? anything I would be grateful

    Looks like a fine WWII era German canteen to me.

    Seems to be Doug, but the only numbers I see are on the mug?? I read that it should have numbers near the neck of the bottle ,do you know if they "All" have numbers?

    I have a medic one, and it is all matching, the top, the bottles, the wool case and the cup. Maybe yours is mismatched, maybe a later cup added to an earlier cup and wool cover?

    Is there much difference with a medic one Doug? .......or is that a silly question

    I believe the medics one are a little larger in carrying capacity and have a smaller cup. The back attachment is also different. Here is a link to mine.

    Ronnies I have had some unmarked ones not all of them were if so it would be like CL 43 MN42 etc are two that comes to mind looks like you have a nice midwar canteen or so with a pigskin strap your cup looks like it is marked and dated 43. It is a original one from what I see. timothy
