And especially, the optics Must be crystal clear. Any fungus inside will dramatically reduce the value, as they would then require a full cleaning-which is pricey.

Thanks again - looking for eyecups as I write this...only found some US M9 6x30 cups so far: UNIVERSAL 6X30 BINOCULAR EYE GUARDS/CUPS FOR M9 - Surplus Shed
On a sidenote, I ordered a pair of these from Surplus Shed last year for my 1943 dated US M3 6x30 binoculars and they fit perfectly.

    asking price around 85 EU.

for me here are the pros & cons:

    pros:

    - the price seems ok - on ebay, etc. these are well above 100 EU
    - the "Dienstglas" marking is NOT removed
    - has an original neck-strap (I think)
    - sand-colored paint on top of the black paint (althou' looks a bit salty)
    - has eyecups

    cons:

    - has eyecups, but looks like one is a brown one, the other is black
    - not sure about the optics - could be dirty

    what do u guys think?

    Hello,
Sorry to say, but i have never seen such an ugly pair of tan cag binoculars so far...
If it was my choice to buy one of both pairs, i would not hesitate for long, especially when the ugly ones (cag) are more than twice the price of the decent ones (bmk). As i said before, eyecups is just a matter of patience.
    Thanks

    Hello,
@Fabe : For you to see....

My pair of bmk binoculars and two of my cag binoculars...the last pair was seized by a french Officer from a german Officer during WWII. They were later used in Indochina and Algeria and came with a reddish bakelite container...
    Thanks
