German WWII Saddle Bag??

I am in the process of helping a WWII vet close his museum and sell some things and I came across this item yesterday. I believe it is a saddle bag but no100% sure. Could someone tell me if it is real and the approximate value? We are trying to help him get the most out of his collection as he has already been taken advantage of due to his age. Thanks!

Looks like a M34 CAVALRY SADDLE BAG.
It is for the right hand side value 225-300$ IMO

Thanks for the help guys! I have been collecting WWII for quit a few year but am just starting to get into the German stuff. I may just pay for this and keep it for my collection as this is something that I don't see very often or ever in this part of the country.

Right side held cavalry troopers kit the left was designed for carrying the accessories for the horse and central coupling device.

Hi,
The saddle looks like its been well modified for post war use. The underside of the saddle has been altered for sure with what could be something like sheep skin and the stirrups are not standard German army issue either. The saddles came in 4 sizes and are generally to big and too heavy for horses today. Most saddles were used on horses pulling wagon's and gun's. Here in the Channel Islands we had a great many of these saddles left after the German Occupation of our Island and many survive today in good condition as they were just not suitable to use on our every day horses. As a kid I remember a German horse called Dolly being in the field just up the road from my house. She was well passed her sell by and use by date when I saw her. I guess I was only 5 or so at the time and therefore she must have been extremely old by then.
