Default Ground dug items from Stalingrad

    Hello Friends,

Here are some artifacts that I have just received. They were dug from a
former fighting position in the former Stalingrad area, now called Volgograd.
Prime examples of the ferocious fighting that once took place there!

    Thanks,
    Matt

But things are not always what they seem. Most of the items are damaged when dug up.
Don't understand me wrong. I am not saying these are or I do not want to offend anybody!!
Always looking for Belgian Congo stuff!
    cheers

If you had a POW camp in Canada ...try to look in that neighburhood...
I dug on the net, however I live near a place where I should look.
    But I don't have a metaldetector.
I stick on digging the internet.
I come up on intresting things.

    very sad!

The Erkennungsmark could have belonged to my uncle. Or some of the other items! He was reported missing in ca. 1943 Stalingrad.

Its strange how seeing `history` makes you feel at times. I sometimes wonder , "who owned it?" or "who was issued with it?" . "What hands have been on it and if it could tell a story what story would it tell?"

Theres a place near me in SW Scotland that I`ve been informed was a POW camp and a lot of personal stuff was dumped and buried there. I should look into it.

    Bigkeeko,

I know what you mean. My friend lived near Stark New Hampshire and there was a prisoner of war camp there also. We used to walk around the area and had read the history of the camp and that most of the prisoners were used for "Logging" the forest in the area. Recently I thought of going back up there with a metal detector but I do not no the legal ramifications in this state.

    Cheers mate,

    -Rob
