    Pammy,

I was going to suggest a way of displaying the gun sight
and as I was reading down the postings, you have come up with it already...........

This is a decent way to display it !
    Regards,

    Steve.

Hi guys and Pammy in particular.

This is going to sound really silly, but I have just been watching the film "The Mummy" and I think I may have solved your gunsight enigma.
About midway through the film there is an airborn section, only a few minutes long, but at the end of one of the characters takes a Vickers K-Gun from its mounts, and the rear sight looks very much like yours!

Hope that this is of some help

    Regards etc

Pammy, if you google "Vickers K-Gun" you should get loads of hits on it, anyone of them should give you a decent view of it. BTW, its the AIRCRAFT mounted version that you want to be looking for. (There was also a vehicle mounted version)

    All the best

Hi Ian, I love that film and watched it again too last night.

Slight correction though, it is actually a Lewis gun MkIII for aircraft use. Stripped of it's more familiar outer casing the gun looks very different to the usual Lewis gun. The Vickers K does not have the muzzle brake etc.

Note the sight on this instructional poster.

    Cheers, Ade.
