    Hey guys,

I recently picked up this breadbag that has a lot of age. Materials and style seem like a late war breadbag, but it has an internal divider. Is this just a post war breadbag? If so, is it East or West German, and does anyone know what the metal ID tag is for? It has the number 70 on the back and Greek symbol for Omega. Does this mean universal blood type? The only stamping on the bag is near the name tag and it looks like the numbers 1832. Does anyone know? I am very curious. Pictures:

Jaeger as to your questions concerning this bread bag IMO it is an early post war example to the best of my knowledge there were no pre war or war time examples with said internal dividers.
One other point of observation is the belt attaching hook this should be indented with a distinct circular impression.

On a different note you should only use the forums image up loader if you close your flicker account it will make the thread useless for future reference as know one will be able to access the images.

Hey Thanks for the quick response Mark! I will do my best to repost the images later today. As for the details you pointed out, that was my impression as well. That being said, would this have been West German? What struck me about this bag was it's age and the materials used. I am also still very curious about the brass ID tag sewn inside. Does anyone have any idea what it is? Could it be an early post war dog tag?
    Thanks!

    You are welcome
I do find this brotbeutel an interesting example it has some character and looks to be well constructed.
I am leaning towards it being West German but I am not a 100% positive I am shur you will get some imput from other members here once you re post the pictures.

it might be non-military issue bag - similar to the tornisters - both military and paramilitary

As to the link I believe the one shown as well is an early Bundeswehr as the BGS brotbeutel is a darker green in color as I have one in my collection.
