Help Please- What is this item?

Greetings all.

I was wondering if any of you have come across these leather bags in your collecting or travels. They look like medical kits but I don't think they are. I suppose they were used for documents?

I have 2 of these bags. Under each of the case flaps they are both stamped with German Eagle holding the swastika (although it is faded) and have the following lettering A&H WL 1940 over the symbol.

The bags' metal clasps read Ideho or Idebo.

I can't find any info on these. Any help you all could give would be greatly appreciated.

It look like a radio equipment box to me, but with a lock on the front,
you might expect sensitive components, something of importance
or of value were to be kept in them.

Hey guys thanks a lot for the help. The letters and date and eagle are stamped into the leather.

Also the two boxes are similar but the one has the divider on the inside while the other does not.

Im really hoping for those enigma code disks! lol

I don't know anything about the leather case or it's origins, but that is a Weimar eagle stamp, and not a very good quality one at that. There would be no reason what so ever for the manufacturer to be using a Weimar eagle stamp in 1940. It's use was discontinued in 1935. Don't know what to make of it.
