    Evening all,

Recently acquired these boots fairly cheaply for stomping around in.

Wasn't entirely sure on where to post this, as I'm fairly sure they aren't original WW2 German; the stitching in certain areas is just too crude. Still, the question remains; what actually are they? Are they recognisable as being issued in any nation's armed forces, or were they manufactured simply to be sold commercially? Any theories/knowledge on these boots would be appreciated.

P.S The similarity of these boots with the German 'marschsteifel' is obvious. I originally bought these for wearing during reenactments, so ideas on how to make this pair of boots look more similar to the real deal, (other than adding hobnails,) would also be appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Dan.

    Hello,
This type of privately purchased boots was produced between the late 20s and the late 50s or even early 60s...
This type of boots are commonly seen on period photos depicting german Officers. These ones are hard shafted so they could not be worn on the frontline (that's the theory of course). If you use them for reenacting an enlisted man, it makes no sense...
    Thanks
