Kübelwagen / Schwimmwagen shovel

Hey Guys and Gals,

I just got this Kübelwagen / Schwimmwagen (or for assorted armored vehicles I guess) shovel - with original paint still intact - I don't have the item yet, but I'll update with markings if I find any.
The price was 44 EU by the end of the biding - did I do ok?

It is an engineer shovel

Correct, it's a pioneer / engineer LONG handled shovel to be precise

2 types existed , the short one (which was carried on the back) and the long one, which often also was mounted on vehicles.

They should be maker marked, and dates (and probably stamped with a H)

Yes nice one Fabe as stated long handled pioneer shovel carried on Kubls and armored vehicles I agree with others probably a maker mark, code or date on it looks like it has retained its ordance paint. Nice find. timothy

Update:

The shovel arrived - looks great - "gelb" paint on both sides & on the handle as well. I did not find any markings however...
Only a painted black "557" on the end of the handle - see pics:

The 557 could be part of the vehicle number , i have seen items before marked with vehicle number plate numbers

I paid $100 for a US shovel for my Jeep.
This has to be quite rare in comparison
