I like that last one; placing the helmet there is actually a pretty good idea.
I've always found this a sad but intriguing photo - if he was indeed a sniper, an alcove entrance to a garden or building is not the best of positions for concealment, yet it must have been where he had fallen as postmortem there would not have been that much blood once his pump had stopped. The tattered trousers and shattered shin could indicate he was grenaded and probably propped back up into the corner and his weapon removed ..... but without eyewitness facts, we have only the LIFE correspondent's captioning to go by. Whatever the case, he looks quite young and one more son that wasn't going home - just another example of why 'war is hell'
