Mess Kit marked "ESB 37

I got hold of a Aluminum Mess Kit marked "ESB 37", is ESB 37 markers mark, and 37 the year ?
Along came a rubber/ plastic bag, does that one belong to the kit ?

Yes, manufacturer - Eduard Sommerfeld, Berlin, 1937 - year of issue.

The bag has nothing to do with the mess kit: it is a gas cape pouch which was worn on the chest of the soldier ( attached to the strap of the gasmask )

yeah, Messkits had no special bags, to my knowledge most of the time they just hung on the back of the Tornister and swung around.. I guess thatps the reason for most of them looking a little mistreated..
In case the word "swung" does not exist, i apologize.. hope you get it.. English is not my Muttersprache..

Yes, as you say, there have never been a bag for these mess kit, it was just hung on the back, and swinging around. English is not my "mother language" I am Danish, but certainly I know what you mean
