Ok guys - just to be on the safe-side, I got both...Thank you all for the advices!
When I get them, I'll update this thread with more pics - and see what other marks might be on them...
re. the paint: I checked some of his other items, he has 5-6 WW2 German jerry cans and gas mask cans, etc. - all with original, salty paint...so hoping for the same with these...

I went to pick up the boxes yesterday, and the story turned out to have a "happy-end" - the seller's photos were so bad (too much flash), the boxes are actually have "sand" color (not DAK, but the late war yellow). So no worries about fake white-camo...
Both have PATR. KAST. 41 F.M.G. (“Patronen Kasten 41 fur Maschinengewerh”) markings on the sides and "bpd" (C.P. Goerz GmbH, Wien) and "brc" (Fr. Weber en Co. Berlin) on top...If my eyes are correct.
One has about 70% original paint left, the other less...about 40%. Both are in very good gondition, rubber seal still soft and intact, all locking mech. work good, no big dents, some surface rust.
Probably worth the 40 bucks...
