Hi Chaps, I've bought a couple of items this week. A M39 Tornister dated 1941 & a K98 frog dated 1942. Both have mixed aluminium & steel metal work (please see pics).

Is this very common? Has anyone else noticed this?

I suppose they were just using up old alu bits before moving on to steel,

    Cheers,

    Richard.

    Hi Dujailah,
I can't see anything wrong with your very nice items! The mixed steel and aluminum fittings on your tornister and frog are nothing to loose your sleep upon;manufacturers simply used whatever they had laying around and in this case aluminum and steel parts found themselves together on the same worker's table.Your items are very nice and very collectible!
    Cheers

Hi Canuck63, thanks for the info. Yeah, I see what you mean, they were using what was available. I suppose during wartime they couldn't be too picky. I wonder if any other members have other examples of mixed metal work, Cheers, Richard.
