Hi all, I recently bought a pair of leather Norwegian MP40 pouches as original ones are way out of my price league I was surprised to see they were maker marked and dated 1939 were the Norwegians also using MP40,s at this stage of the war?

From the first look I don't like them Ben, the brass is not a German material for 1939 period, also 3 Letters code is impossible mix with 1939 date. Soft pigskin?
90% what I see from that not good pictures - not for you, sorry

Hi Dimas, so they are not Norwegian? I paid hardly anything for them, like I said German ones cost a small fortune so I thought a pair of leather ones would be nice for display, could the makers mark be false even though they were cheap anyway?
Ben
They are probably Norwegian, but they are post war Norwegian- these was tried to re-marked as the German ww2 issue. Post war Norweian stuff must be cheap.

Hi
After the war the Norwegian army used equipment and weapons left by the Germans. These mp40 pouches are post war and where used for both the Stengun and the mp40. I guess they needed some more pouches and this was an easy and cheap way to make them (made from leather). These pouches where also used by the Norwegian police for some time. I have several of these myself and they vary in color and leather. Brown, light green and dark green.
Nice matching pare
