    It looks nicely used, i'd leave it be.
    It's a wasted trip baby. Nobody said nothing about locking horns with no Tigers.

    I don't have it with me yet, (these were the seller's pics) but probably looks better in real-life, than these "flash" photos.
    So, yeah, I might just leave it as it is...

    If it smells really bad ( which some do ) let it air for a few days but if the staining is oil ( some got used for tool bags because they are great for that ) then as Gunny said, leave be - it adds to the character!

    Salty and well used is best IMHO.

    update:

    my bread-bag arrived today...
    looks great, no bad smell
    dark brown leather is soft, no cracks - if there was any stamping on it, it no longer can be seen.

    2 alu. buttons were replaced with slightly different alu. buttons - but looks like war-time repair to me...

    overall, I'm quite happy with it.
