Need help to verify german WW2 gas masks authenticy

Article about: Well I'm happy I did a search on gas masks before I posted a bunch of pictures. Seems these new, in the box deals are cheaper by the dozen. Oh well, guess it's still cool just to have one.

I'm considering buying this gas mask for 50 euro. The only info the seller has in the ad is "WW2 German gas mask, Original." - Is it original or reproduction? Anyone know which year it is from and where it was used? Is it a civilian gas mask or military?

    Here is the pictures

The mask you have is in fact a VM-37 Civilian/Air Defence Mask, you're example is made by Draeger , the filter and more than likely the mask too were made in June 1938.

    Hopefully this helps

    Thanks

I don't think anyone will ever make repros of something like this. I don't collect such things but would think 50 Euros for an excellent condition mask with box and paperwork is about right. NH

    Hello,
buying this item or not depends of the type of collection that you want to build up.....it is a genuine Volksgasmaske, but Volskgasmasken are all over the place, you can find them unissued with their box and manual for 30 to 60 euro.
With the value of two of these Volksgasmasken, you can buy a nice military M30 or M38 with original canister/straps.
    Thanks
