IF that is the case then the guy in Germany I got it, and 2 others, from had a garage full of them. There must have been 100 in that building. They ranged from nearly new like mine - I picked out 3 nice ones - to pretty rusty altho most including the rusty one were new inside.
He said that they had come from a rural fire department in Czechloslovakia.
I got them in the 1990s.
Exactly what is it that tells you they are not original? I have one that is identical to this one that I picked up at a Veterama in Manheim around the same time. It had been painted green and appearently used for a water can has it has rust holes in the bottom.

Well , with copies the welding on the handle is different, there is probably a flower like symbol on the cap and there are more details....
Just google on Sandrik and you will find a lot of discussions with detail pictures of the sandrik copies (in fact they are note copies, but they are produced by Sandrik, only post war !)

There was a shop in the Czech Rep that had 1000s of these copy SS Jerry cans all left outside to weather them to make them look old so beware there is alot of them out there
