Hello,
It is an original set with black rubber GM38 and M38 canister.
The short strap is OK, but long one is postwar Bundeswehr...(sorry)
To find different dates of production on lenses box and opening spring is rather common...
Thanks

could you please tell us why you think the long strap is post war IE what details to to look for to identify it as such
cheers ian
Hello,
Ian : i didnt say that i thought the long strap to be postwar....i said only it's postwar...because it is...
This thick strap with characteristic weave would be more appropriate for a 1958 dated canister !
I'm sure that one of our members from Netherlands, specialist of WWII german fieldgear will confirm this...
Thanks

You must have leather parts or rubber parts.
If not, for me, it's recovered.

To bad that it is Bundeswehr.. thanks for all the reply's and info!
The mask and can if dated would be ww2 is date stamped in mask can usually in spare eye piece lid should be inked waffenamt somewhere inside rubber of mask bwz is common code on them mask and can from what I can see ww2 I am with Lebus on the leather or rubber on straps I have seen them not but as stated have been removed. So straps could be BW Just MO timothy
Funny that German coarse weave is post war when the British used exactly the same coarse weave on their 37 pattern webbing???
Much stronger IMO ....... just like the NATO adopted fuel can was the German design NOT the US one, it may have been a case of using the best one?

I wonder.... who do you mean.... hahahaha
No indeed, straps are BW.... easy to recognize.....
btw, the germans did use coarse weave also on later items.... the pattern however is different.....
