The dvr 42 marked P38 holster has been reproduced for quite a long time. So there are genuine ones out there and repros, some brand new, others with a bit of patina to them now. The ink stamps are nonsense and added post war but I'm leaning to this being an old repro holster. It has some nice darkening of the interior leather, but I see some damage that looks contrived. Then there's the maker marks which are stamped a little too deeply. It's not one I would buy, maybe used by a reinactor.

I'd err on the side of it being a reproduction as well. The WaffenAmt eagle is very crude, with no sign of a swastika ever having been present within the circle.

Here is what an original Waffenampt should look like.

Tobruk you should ask your mate who gave it to you why he unleashed a power circular grinder on the belt loops.

At least it was gifted and so Tobruk is not out of pocket. You can at least add it to your collection inventory described for what it is, a copy, rather than what it purports to pretend to be.

The Terrible stamps and contrived wear show it to be Fake.
