Interesting peice. Hope it pans out. I'm sure I've seen some period items with "Germany" on them. Then again they were on dealer sites so no idea if they were authentic.

Eric I like it most items marked Germany are pre war items . after the war they are marked east or west Germany. Gary
sorry to highjack your thread ,but I was wondering are this type of emblem common on wartime German bikes as I have what I have been told is a wartime German bike with a similar shield that says Bismark,I assumed this was the makers name but could be wrong

What ?.... round things !......"Germany" simply means it was/could be, for the export market....it will be a "Generic" base, that the maker will fit a variety of emblems to, this one just happens to have a "RAD" symbol on it, (and yes I am aware It probably was not exported with this symbol on it ! )....IMO perfectly period 1933-45.
