Please forgive me folks as a don't want to sound pedantic, i thought ordinance tan was the term for the postwar refurbished German helmets. Should the colour be described as dunkelgelb or a similar shade?

I think the term Dunkelgelb is right as Gunny has stated,anyway here is my contribution.

This is all I can contribute in the TAN department Jason - a 1943 NIRONA made Kanister. Came from Germany last year but don't know where it had been - everyone assumes DAK but that is unlikely. Still, I like it, hope others do.

Quite a lot of tan equipment is found in Russia/Eastern Front I have had one exactly like yours Dan. From Rzhew "Meat Grinder".
