    Hello,

I bought a pocket compass from a flea market in Berlin while on holiday, not really knowing much about them - but I fell in love with it despite the cracked glass. The back of the compass has the inscription "Hindenbubg der Rossenbesieger" (image below).

Has anyone seen one of these before and might have an idea of who may have used it? Any information at all would be really appreciated

It's actually "Hindenburg der Russenbesieger"...meaning "Hindenburg, the defeater of Russians", referring to the WWI Battle of Tannenberg where Hindenburg won his historic victory...I would consider this compass a type of Patriotic keepsake....
    cheers, Glenn

Thanks for your help Glenn. I had been searching the internet since coming back from Berlin for something similar as a comparison but no avail.

    Thanks again,
    Alan
