question about wearing the holster and map case

I have a question about the use of pistols and mapcse by the germans many say only officers an mg helpers wear them, but why is it that i see many pictures of soldiers and nco´s wearing them how did you get the items en who?

There were many "specialists" who were equiped with mapcases and / or holsters, not only officers (mapcases) and MG gunners (holsters)

Mortar teams, medics etc etc were equiped with P08 and / or P38

Melders (which were normal soldiers) were equiped with mapcases
