I can tell you without doubt that the gloves stamped 'Fownes Arion' and 'Made in France' are not German army issue, or any army for that matter. These gloves are gentlemans high button evening gloves manufactured in France for the John Fownes Co. of Gresham Street London in the first quarter of the 20th century. The model name 'Arion' comes from an opera, and these were sold as evening wear for such occaisions. They also manufactured kid leather string backed driving gloves, of which I own a pair.

Ive heard of some TR era pieces marked "made in Germany" for shipment to America by the Allies and some German items were made in France , but I haven't seen gloves marked this way before.

Here are a pair of standard german officers' gloves from my collection.

For your own sake, you might want to stay away from 'peripheral' items
and stick to true or known militaria: kit, medals, badges, pins, etc,
which will have more associated history, and will give you the
    satisfaction of owning genuine articles.........
    Regards,

    Steve.
