    Hi!

I need some help with identification.

A friend of mine found this piece in an old house not far from Budapest. We think it's some kind of equipment used for heating, guessing this from the "Heißgasbiäser" and "Heizstoff" heating fuel label. It's constructed on a sledge. Someone said it could have been used by the Luftwaffe, to remove ice from their aircrafts before takeoff. We think it can be brought back to working condition with some cleaning and repair.

    Thanks in advance!

    Balázs

The sleds support the snow / ice theory. Google tells me it’s a ground heater????

Yes, it could be. It also says: "Don't refill while operating or fire may occure." Is there someone who saw some device like this?

A very poor translation of the tag, says it is a hot gas blaser. Definitely a heater, but I've never seen one like this before.

The device was indeed used to de-ice aircraft fuselages and wings.

The Heißgasbläser 35 K was patented by Alfred Kärcher.

Many many years ago in college I used to work odd jobs on construction sites (cleaning up basically). They used modern versions of these to heat the workspace during winter time.

And yes......never refill while in use I think we used Kerosene. Not gasoline.
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated
