Its marked WHW, for use by Winter Help Organisation workers. Grain or general supply sacks can be found here on the forum, but they were constructed of heavy cloth material, not paper.

It's a donation bag for the Winter Relief Works of Vienna, Austria...for one pound of donations, usually dry-goods such as noodles, peas, sugar, etc...These bags were then sorted to create food packages for the needy....It's also known as Pfundsammlung.

The winterhilfswerk organisation certainly did use paper bags. Not sure if they were for keeping tinnies in or for collecting money!.

Here is one such bag but nothing like the one on this thread

It is for the pfundspende or 'One Pound' Donation like was said before. I have a photo somewhere of HJ kids pulling a wagon full of these bags full of non perishable dry goods for the hungry.

    update on the paperbag:

arrived a couple of days ago - unissued condition - dimensions: 51 x 21 cm

I've placed a bayonet and a 1941 newspaper (more like a magazine, also came from the same seller) next to it for size compar.

    interesting item for sure!

Btw., the magazine (Small Garden or Home Garden) is a black&white 18 pages magazine for garden hobbyist. The date is april 4th, 1941. The pages are numbered 82-103 - meaning these were probably collected & bounded by the owners at the end of the year, used as a book. The cover also features a nice "German Home Garden" logo - see scan...
