The following diagrams are from the 1983 edition of HDv 342/300 "Die Gebirgstragtierkompanie." If anyone has a copy or knows the whereabouts of the wartime German pack mule manuals, please let me know.

    Grüß Di' David,

Thanks....I've been collecting this stuff for over 30 years...a little bit here and a little bit there...plus I lived in Germany for 10 years from 1981-91....so I do have a few things. But my wife won't let me get a mule or a Haflinger horse to put this stuff on!!!

    Hafi und Muli vor!

I do get to borrow a Haflinger every now and then...

That's certainly better then nothing. Where is this picture taken? Looks like there are some HJ guys behind you.

    Happy New Year David,

The photo was taken at the WWII Weekend in Reading, Pa which is held every June:

WELCOME TO THE MID-ATLANTIC AIR MUSEUM'S WORLD WAR II WEEKEND

My unit, 5. Kompanie/Hochgebirgsjäger Btl. 4, displays there every year.

We will be at Fort Indiantown Gap at the end of this month for the Battle of the Bulge reenactment.

I recognize from the pictures some boxes found here in Estonia. But in Estonia no way hills
Interesting but the fact that in the battlefields in Estonia found dog tags from Prinz Eugen ( as I heard some of them was sent to the Nederland division )

    Servus Dimas,

Would like to see some of your boxes. I think my thermal food carrier came out of the Baltic area. The Gebirgsjägers were not the only ones who used this stuff since over 80 % of the German army was horse drawn. The Wehrmacht used about 6 million horses and mules during World War II.

    Muli vor!
