Default Trench or vehicle periscope or both ?

    Hi

Can anyone help me positively identify this please ?

Got a German feel about it and is painted tan. No dates or waffenamt stamps but has some markings as shown in the pics.

It has a fab fixing device for securing it to wood I assume by the cork screw end.

Optics very clear with scale gradients.

    cheers

    Tony

RLN is Carl Zeiss of Jena's code they used after November 1944, so this is a fairly late war scope. It was, I believe, used in armored vehicles.

Zeiss actually makes optics still today. You can buy personal Binoculars for hunting or bird watching, they are considered to be on the top end of Hunting optics as far as price and quality.

Yes as already said these are Carl zeiss, late '44 early '45 they were used on armoured vehicles and for trench observation as well, quite a scarce piece of kit as well, especially with the metal spike, they were used screwed into a log/ piece pf wood etc to hold them when used in the field or in trench works, something that is missing from most of them, well done
