Unknown German Leather Case/Pouch

Hi Guys
I got this case for my interest in the Medic side of WW2 but knew the crosses were applied after the items original use was up.... but what use?
It has the Waffenampt stamped on the inside of the top with WaA163.

WaA163 joa Carl Heinichen Dresden 1941

Its approx 18cm high, 11cm wide and 10cm deep.

For signals or to hold optics for artillery or field pieces??
