Looks like a Patronenkasten 41 to me (with all paint stripped.....)

Post war had a ribbed side - this looks TR era. Any more photos? How does it latch? You may find some dates or Waffenamt marks on it too. NH

How do you assess the state? How much could it be worth? It cleaned up and leave?

Tom is correct. The marking inside is Patronkaste 41 fuer MG. So this is a Machine Gun ammo can. I would not do much cleaning at all or painting. Not sure on value - there are some listed on line for sale. Please others chime in here. NH

In this state I wouldn't pay more for it then 20 $......

Nice ones can be bought for 40 - 80 $
