Standard Field Pack Model1939 used by the German foot soldier as a means of carrying effects i.e spare handkerchief,collar bands, undershirts etc.

Oh cool The more you know , I read in a book my pal has that Mainly NCOs used them for carrying extra shoes clothes ammo etc .. i thought only NCOs had them .. Thanks for the help

That's a standard M39 Tornister, improvised carrying strap is a breadbag strap.
It was not used in the field.
