I might be wrong of course, but IMO the dutch army never used shovels that had their blade electrically welded, and with the bottom edges folded...Tom (or someone close to him...) will confirm this i think.
Dutch produced why not, but not for the a dutch customer if you see what i mean...more surely for the kind of customer who leaves you no choice...(Lol)

I was thinking the same thing JP....

Just trying to find some info on this.....

There might be some pressure involved in producing this...... on the other hand, some firms were very happy to produce things for "the other side"

It is pure speculation, but the WWII issue german straight shovel is so specific that at 99%, it is a dutch production for the german army (or why not a dutch production for the postwar dutch army patterned after the german shovel). We know that postwar dutch folding shovels were patterned after the german M38 folding type, so why not thinking that it could be the same for the straight ones...there is so much to know and we know so little...
Do you know which year the dutch folding shovel was adopted ?

The number 32 is not the year of production as the germans were the first ones to adopt and produce this type of straight shovels in 1935. Most likely a unit number (RP32?)

Some manufacturers in occupied countries resisted but were finally forced to produced for the germans, some were simply happy to do it...the economical collaboration is a very tricky and almost endless issue...
