Default WWII or postwar gas mask cannister?

I received this as a gift some years ago. It looks a lot like a german WWII gas mask cannister. There are traces of blue paint on the lid and latching mechanism. There are also no waffenamt stamps. The only stamps are "Auer Berlin". I'm still curious as to how old this thing is.
Check out the pics and give me some opinions. Thank you.

    Hello,
This canister has strange features. There are 99% probabilities that it is a postwar one, with postwar straps, but one or two details are similar to some productions of late war canisters. Could you post pics showing the inside of the canister, the bottom, and the top of the lid of lenses box...

    Thanks,

Would this be Bundeswehr or East German? I'm guessing early Bundeswehr.

AUER Berlin, was located in the East Berlin -DDR, as I've read somewhere in the internet. I never saw a postwar cannisters, very interesting that they was produced postwar.
The support belt looks to me like a late war viskosa cloth made.
