    Default Zeiss Binoculars

    Hello,

I inherited my collection of WW2 memorabilia about 5 years ago (some items earlier) from my grandfather. Each piece was directly brought back to the U.S. by my grandfather at the end of the war.

One of the items he brought back was a pair of German (Zeiss) Binoculars. Any information as to history/value/etc. of these would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Gaines

Thanks for the information pertaining to the date, Pierre N! I had no idea when these binoculars were made. However, your statement isn't exactly accurate; my grandfather brought these back from (and they were being used by German soilders in) WW2.

    Thanks,
    Gaines

    Hi, Gaines !

They are civilian, pressed into service during WWII, as Pierre N suggests.
Zeiss were the top of the line in optics and probably still are to this day !

They are worth more with the 'bring-back' certificate too, and although
I cannot really give you an accurate value, it would have to be
at least $200. ( The case 'looks' American or Allied to me.
But perhaps someone else can give you a better idea ! )

Sadly, I missed a similar powered pair marked 'Dienstglass' at an antique
store a few years ago, which were selling for $35 CDN............ !
    Regards,

    Steve.
