Hi,

As it is been in other threads talking about foreign gear used by finnish army I start a thread about them. I will continue with other gear.

Here is british Battle dress worn by finnish army. In 1939-40 Britain supplied a Finland gear and uniforms. The battle dress arrived too late for winterwar. It was used during 1941-44 by finnish soldier boy organisation as well by finnish army.

As you can see it was used by civil guard, by infantry combat units and by other units too. It was often said that british gear was useless, but it wasnt. I think it was just used away. British battle dress was used by finnisn army same time when Britain declared war against Finland...

Interesting photos , normally the battle dress jackets you find these days are small sizes and as you say used by the Boy soilders,

The Soldier boys and school boys had different tasks during war time in Finland. Here they are manning a AA-gun in spring 1944. Not a best image for Battle dress 37, but interesting helmets with AA-artillery insignia.
