finnish-hungarian M38 helmet "Vallila Battalion"
Just added this nice helmet to my hungarian helmet collection. A finnish M38 DM64 marked helmet repainted and relined but still bears the rare insignia of the JR47 Vallila Battalion on the left side peaking through the paint. This elite unit used a hand painted or stencilled stylized church, probably the cathedral of Helsinki and roman number runing from I to IV on this one it's II. Estonian volunteers also fought in this unit under the command of Gripenberg.
Hope you like it too!

REGARDS AL
We are the Pilgrims , master, we shall go
Always a little further : it may be
Beyond that last blue mountain barred with snow
Across that angry or that glimmering sea...

That's a great helmet, I have to say that I am jealous. Many Finnish helmets aren't this detailed, in a way that it has decals or tells the regiment that the owner served in.
I think it's indeed the Helsinki Cathedral church. It would make sense since JR47 was formed originally in Helsinki.
