Buttoning right side over the left is woman's greatcoat. No military purpose, except if we don't take into count winter war model "Cajander uniform" which is civilian clothing with national cockade and army belt.
Other thing is home-front air surveillance Lotta's who used warm civilian coats at winter, not enough Lotta-Swärd greatcoats for everyone. Or civilan cloths were just warmer.

People often mistake and label all dark-collar colored greatcoats into m/22-36, which is actually modified older m22 greatcoat originally.

yea m/36 greatcoat is stylistic fold open now i need to take all its buttons off its has taken some moist damage it wasn't really preserved best way...
