I am going to Helsinki next month and was hoping there were some memorials or museums that are dedicated to the Winter War or WW2 in general

There is the Military Museum of Finland but I believe it has closed

If anyone has any recommendations I would be very grateful

    Thanks

Sorry to say the War museum in Helsinki is closed at the moment , I was in Helsinki last weekend it will be moved to a new place ,there is Suomenlinna that's a short boat trip to that has a U boat there and some old cannons https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suomenlinna , There is a aircraft museum not far from the Airport but the other good museum are 2 to 3 hours drive from Helsinki like the Tank museum The Armour Museum, Parola,Finland - Home page or the Jager Museum in Mikkeli Exhibition Rooms

Even if Museums is closed for the season it might be worth a shot contacting them beforehand asking for a visit. I ve been lucky like that quite a few times

Sorry to say the The War Museum is being moved that is the reason for it being closed , Yes the Mannerheim museum would be worth a look,You can also still go to where the War museum is as there is a Stug and some Field guns still in the court yard that you can see

Suomenlinna in fact has it's own War Museum, Maneesi. It has some tanks and other equipment, uniforms etc. Not a big museum but something to compensate for the lack of main museum at the current moment.
